Peoples Trust & Savings Bank jump started a capital improvement fund drive by the Greene County Fair board with a $15,000 donation last Friday evening.
Presenting the check were (from right) Doug Carman, Chad Leighty and Larry Pote of Peoples Bank, with fair board members Josh Hedges and Rod Wolf accepting.
The fair board plans to remove the old swine and sheep barns and construct a new 120’ x 160’ fully enclosed metal building at an estimated cost of $500,000.
No one is sure when the current structures were built but it is estimated they are at least 80 years old. They have been repaired over the years but have reached the end of their useful life.
Additional fundraising events are planned including an auction on Sept. 9. Details will be forthcoming. ~The Scranton Journal
